Jesus is Judged by Pilate

How could Pilate declare Jesus innocent 3x and still have him crucified? Many today give Jesus token praise but no real allegiance.

The Passion of Jesus Christ reveals a deep irony: the ultimate judge is the one who is actually on trial here. Pilate had asked, "What is truth?", while Truth itself stands bleeding right in front of him.

Jesus previously said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

As you look at Pilate’s outstretched hand, ask yourself: Where do I stand in this scene? Do I, like Pilate, try to "wash my hands" of Jesus when following Him becomes politically or socially uncomfortable? Do I choose the "Barabbas" of my own desires over the Lordship of Christ?

The beauty of this station is that Jesus does not argue for His life. He accepts this tragic injustice. He was condemned by a human governor so that you could be acquitted by the Divine Judge. Now you must choose! Jesus also said “Whoever is not with me is against me”
