Station 9: Jesus Meets the Women of Jerusalem

Jesus’ Message to the Women of Jerusalem

Luke 23:27-31 And there followed him a great multitude of the people and of women who were mourning and lamenting for him. But turning to them Jesus said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.

These women grieved for the most harmless and yet caring man they had ever known,

Why would anyone persecute pure love?

How can Evil triumph? (Especially over this powerful Man who could evict supernatural demons, cure incurable leprosy and is such a sinless Holy one?)

Is hope forever vanquished in such a cruel world?

Are these not the same piercing questions that haunt and mock the hearts and minds of every person when traumatized by tragedy?!

Every sobbing soul screams 1 word “Why?!!!”

Jesus tells them not to cry for Him, but for themselves. You see, all suffering is the result of humanity’s rejection of our God, our rebellion brought pride, sin and suffering.

A far worse and eternal tragedy is in the making! Jesus will cover our sins with His blood, but we must turn away from the sins we love and TO the one who left heaven to take our place or our rejection of Him as Savior and Lord will send us to a much-deserved Hell forever!

Now, Jesus answers our ‘Whys’ with His own!

Why will you not forsake your selfishness and sins for Me, the one who loves you most?

And by the way, evil has not won! Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning. Hold on … Sunday is a comin!
