Jesus Promises His Kingdom to a Thief

Isn’t Grace Amazing?! He promises paradise to all the truly repentant who trust His sacrifice to save them!

We witness a conversation between three dying men that changes the nature of hope forever. In this painting, the sky is a turbulent sea of grey and gold, reflecting the cosmic battle taking place.

Jesus hangs in the center, the thief cries, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus actually grants a condemned criminal, who confesses He deserves this death, a place in heaven, that very Day! Why? Clearly not because of any goodness of his own or pleas of what he will do. Salvation is a gift we don’t deserve! We are beggars of grace!

This is the Gospel at its most scandalous—that a lifetime of rebellion can be washed away by a single moment of honest repentance because of the One hanging on the center cross. We see here 3 crosses, one of rejection, one of repentance and Jesus’ Cross of Redemption! Jesus still hangs in the middle! Turn to Him!
