The Teacher Dilemma
After considering the dangers of the tongue, perhaps one of the greatest is for teachers! Especially teachers of Spiritual, biblical, moral, Philosophical, counseling, and ethical truth!
What does it mean to say they will receive a "greater" or stricter judgment!?
Are there people who desire to dispense their "wisdom" too much? Do we have too many teachers or too many who shouldn’t be?
The opposite unintended problem that has also arisen is that people are so intimidated by this week’s verse that they refuse to teach when they should! We Need Godly Teachers! Will there be an accounting if qualified people abandon their gift and the needs of the church because they are selfish, lazy or use the weighty responsibility mentioned here as an excuse?
The reality is we are ALL teachers! First by example, then in one-on-one discussions or in times of fellowship and we share what "We think"...We will answer for what we say is right or wrong! Parents must teach children, employers teach employees...Friends teach friends how to do many things!
Teachers are responsible to God for sure but so also are the students/disciples. Do you live out the Onus of scripture in Acts 17:11, 1 Thessalonians 2:13, 2 Timothy 2:15
As your Pastor I am often amazed at how often God's people are so easily led astray by false teachers, even Satan's servants. What scriptural cues are given to avoid such evil teachers?
